Historic City Hotel in Columbia CA
1850s Historic City Hotel Restaurant

Casual Elegance In a Victorian Setting

Nestled in the heart of Columbia State Historic Park, this venerable building was first opened by George Morgan in 1856 as the Morgan Hotel and Restaurant. Today, the City Hotel Restaurant carries on this rich tradition, featuring an elevated menu rooted in traditional American cuisine and showcasing locally sourced produce. Our dedicated staff takes pride in creating culinary options that offer a taste for every occasion, from fine dining to casual fare. Our What Cheer Saloon is the only establishment within the Columbia State Historic Park with a full bar that can offer you a delightfully handcrafted cocktail, a bountiful glass of wine from many of our outstanding Sierra Foothills wineries or a cold draft beer as the perfect complement to your meal. Make sure you try our signature drink, “The Columbia Gold” that has pleased many a gold miner from days gone by.

Our cherished Morgan Room, appropriately named after the original proprietor in 1856, can accommodate up to 26 guests comfortably and is perfect for your special occasion, meeting or gathering. Our goal is to provide our guests with an experience as iconic as our cherished building.
